Please reach us at chris.flynn@cpbhc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We provide evaluations for individual treatment (18 years or older) and for occupational requirements (such as fitness for duty or ability to meet regulatory medical standards or FAA HIMS psychiatry assessments). Treatments include medications, psychotherapy and psychoeducation; which are offered to treat a wide range of mental health conditions. Let's discuss by phone?
Please note that I only see patients in person; at my office location. I believe that this offers the best outcome for you.
Please submit a request on the contact page, or call 771 240 3833. We will chat briefly by phone to determine if we are able to provide the type of treatment that you need. Our phone visit is only a pre-screening conversation and does not establish a doctor-patient relationship.
If we agree to schedule a visit, you will receive a link to join the Center Patient Portal. We will send you consent forms and survey(s) to complete. Please finalize these forms prior to your first appointment.
Dr. Flynn is not an ‘in network’ provider for any insurance company. We will create a billing statement that you may submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement benefits. We do not submit bills to your insurance company.
Full payment is due at the time of your visit. We accept debit card and credit card payments.
If we agree to work together, Dr. Flynn will carefully evaluate your symptoms and consider all types of medications that may be needed for your treatment. Typically, benzodiazepine or sleeping medications are only used for a very brief period of time (2 to 3 weeks). They create a ‘bridge’ until safer medications begin to take effect.
If we conclude that you have a diagnosis of inattention, your treatment will begin with a non-stimulant medication. At least half the time, patients respond well to this treatment, which is less harsh on your body. When a stimulant medication is needed, it is only prescribed within standard dose ranges.
Suboxone may be prescribed, if indicated for your care. It will be continued for a short time, using a tapering dose strategy to help you discontinue the medication. If you are seeking ongoing treatment with suboxone, please look for a clinic that provides this type of therapy.
If you are prescribed a controlled substance medication, this must be filled at a Washington DC pharmacy of your choice. A pharmacy in Virginia or Maryland may fill a standard medication prescription.
All CPBHC patients who are prescribed a controlled substance will be required to:
1. sign (and meet the requirements of) a treatment agreement to receive prescriptions,
2. participate in regular urine drug screens,
3. meet any other laboratory and physical testing requirements for your safety.
Please call your pharmacy and have them contact the office. Prescription requests may take up to 72 hours to fill. To avoid running out of medication, contact your pharmacy when you have one week’s worth of medication left.
Note: If you have not had a recent appointment with Dr. Flynn, you might need to come in for a follow-up visit before the refill is authorized.
At times, insurance companies reject a medication and require the office to obtain a ‘preauthorization’ approval for you to receive your prescription. The pharmacy may contact the office and we will begin the process. However, if you receive a notification, please send that information to the office.
Each insurance company has unique requirements before deciding if they will approve your medication. Sometimes an approval can take several days. It is possible that your insurance company will not grant approval for the medication prescribed. If this occurs, we will discuss other medication choices, that may be approved.

When your employer or a regulatory agency (like the FAA) is questioning your ability to continue in your work, it is a time for intense reflection and concern. We want to complete a fair occupational (or fitness for duty) assessment, with you. However, this requires a significant amount of work.
To start, an assessment requires a careful review of your past medical and mental health treatment records plus all information submitted by your employer or regulatory agency. Then, after analyzing these data, we will complete a face-to-face assessment. The exact number of hours can only be guessed, because new information may arise in our meetings -- requiring further investigation. Finally, a summary report is then created that discusses the job or regulatory concerns with the assessment findings.
Please note, call to discuss fees for security clearance assessments.
Occupational or HIMS Assessment fee, per hour: $500 per hour for the first 5 hours, then $ 400 per hour.
Lowest Complexity Evaluation, expect at minimum: 6 hours, $2900
Moderate to High Complexity Evaluation, expect 6+ hours, billed by the hour
Further information when scheduling your Occupational Evaluation:
a. Dr. Flynn will request that you email him all pages of your FAA letter. You will have a 10 minutes phone call to discuss the letter and ‘next steps.’
b. If we proceed, you will be asked to complete and return the FAA records request document AND to provide a copy of all past relevant treatment and legal records.
c. You may be asked to complete laboratory or imaging tests prior to your in-person evaluation. Those locations will bill you separately. Dr. Flynn will need those reports prior to your evaluation.
d. If you require a multidisciplinary assessment, those experts will bill you, separately. Dr. Flynn will need those reports prior to your evaluation.
e. When Dr. Flynn receives all the records and test reports that were requested, you will be scheduled for an evaluation date and you will need to pay $1450 as your first payment for your evaluation.
f. After Dr. Flynn reviews your records, you will have a 15-30 minutes call to discuss your case. At that time, you will decide whether to continue with the evaluation or not. Dr. Flynn will provide a ‘best guess’ of the final cost for the evaluation, at that call. If you decide not to proceed, any remaining money from your initial payment will be returned.
g. If you cancel your appointment more than 14 days before your scheduled evaluation, any remaining money from your initial payment will be returned. Cancellation from 14 days prior to the day of your evaluation will not receive that payment.
h. Not later than the morning of your evaluation; you will need to pay the next balance as explained by Dr. Flynn. If new information arises during the evaluation, additional time may need to be billed to manage those issues.
i. You will be asked to pay any further balance before you receive the draft of your evaluation report.
j. Dr. Flynn will then discuss your report with you. He will not make substantive changes to your report, such as the diagnoses or recommendations. But, he does want to correct any factual errors that you identify (for instance, a geographic error, or an event being off by a year, etc.)
